Christmas and New Year Packages for Kerala Resorts: How to Plan, Price and Sell Them in 2026
Christmas falls on a Friday and New Year's Eve on a Thursday in 2026, so both make long weekends. A week-by-week plan for Kerala resorts to build, price and advertise year-end packages before the rooms go to OTAs.

For most Kerala resorts, the last ten days of December are the busiest of the year. Hill stations like Munnar, Wayanad and Vagamon fill up, and so do the beaches and the backwaters. The rooms will sell. What matters is how many sell directly, at what price, and how early.
The calendar helps in 2026. Christmas Day falls on a Friday, which makes 25–27 December a natural long weekend. New Year's Eve falls on a Thursday, so many families will take 31 December to 3 January as a four-day break. That's two strong weekends to package.
This guide covers how to build those packages, price them, and sell them with ads, week by week.
Start now, not in December
Families plan year-end trips early, especially people travelling from Bengaluru, Chennai and the Gulf. If your packages appear in mid-December, the planners have already booked elsewhere, often through an OTA that takes a commission.

A simple timeline:
- 01Late October to early November: decide the packages, prices and terms. Put up a landing page.
- 02November: run an early-bird offer to past guests and warm audiences.
- 031–15 December: peak demand. Make sure Google Ads catches searches for your packages and dates.
- 0416–30 December: see which dates are still open and push only those.
Package ideas that work in Kerala
A package gives guests a reason to book you instead of comparing room rates. It also makes your price harder to compare on an OTA.

- Christmas weekend stay. Two nights over 25–27 December with a Christmas lunch. In Kerala that can mean appam and stew or a Kuttanad-style duck roast, not a copy of a European menu.
- New Year's Eve long weekend. Three nights from 31 December with a gala dinner, live music or a bonfire.
- Family plan. One price that covers the extra bed, meals and kids' activities. Parents hate surprise extras.
- Couples' escape. A candlelight dinner, a cake and late checkout on 1 January.
- New Year's Eve dinner for locals. No stay needed. It fills your restaurant and gives you a list of local guests for the rest of the year.
- Gift vouchers. Sell them in December for stays in the quieter months. You get the cash now and fill rooms later.
Don't offer all six. Pick two or three that suit your property and explain each one clearly.
Pricing without a race to the bottom
You don't need to discount the peak nights. Demand is already there. Use the package to add value, not to cut the rate.
- Price the package as a whole, not as a room plus extras. "₹24,999 for two nights for two, all meals and the gala dinner" is easier to decide on than a list of add-ons.
- Set a minimum stay for 31 December. One-night bookings on New Year's Eve often leave you with an empty night on either side.
- Keep early-bird offers honest. A real deadline ("book by 15 November") works better than a permanent "limited time" banner.
- Watch rate parity. If your OTA listing shows a lower price than your website, guests will book there. Your direct offer should include something the OTA listing doesn't, like a dinner or late checkout.
How to sell it with ads
Meta ads in November
Start with the people most likely to book: past guests, your Instagram and Facebook engagers, and website visitors. Use real photos and short videos of last year's celebrations if you have them. Click-to-WhatsApp works well for packages because guests have questions about dates, children and meals. I compare it with lead forms in click-to-WhatsApp ads vs lead form ads.
Don't over-target. Show the same ad to a small warm audience for weeks and it gets tired fast. Keep an eye on Meta ads frequency.
Google Ads in December
From early December, people search with dates in mind: "Munnar resort Christmas package", "New Year party resort Wayanad", "resort in Kerala for 31st night". Add these terms to your campaigns, with the package in the ad text and the dates on the landing page. My Google Ads guide for Kerala resorts covers the account structure.
WhatsApp and email to past guests
Your cheapest bookings come from people who already know you. Send one message in November and one reminder in early December. Keep it personal and short.
Follow up fast
Year-end enquiries are urgent. Guests ask three or four resorts at once and book with whoever answers first with a clear price. Reply within the hour, quote the package price, and follow up the next day if they go quiet. My guide on following up resort enquiries has a simple routine for this.
Track which packages actually sold
After the season, look at bookings by package and by source. Which package sold first? Which campaign brought bookings rather than just enquiries? This is what tells you how to plan next December. If you're running ads, connect bookings back to the ad platforms. See sending CRM bookings to the Meta Conversions API.
Frequently asked questions
When should a resort start promoting Christmas and New Year packages?
By early November. Families and groups plan year-end trips weeks ahead. Starting in mid-December means competing for the people who haven't booked yet, which is a smaller and more price-sensitive group.
Should resorts offer discounts for New Year's Eve?
Usually not. Demand is high on 31 December. Add value instead with a gala dinner, late checkout or a minimum-stay package that protects the nights around New Year's Eve.
What is a good New Year package for a resort in Kerala?
Three nights from 31 December to 3 January in 2026, with meals, a gala dinner and one local experience, sold at a single package price. It matches the long weekend most families will take this year.
