What Is a Good ROAS for Jewellery Brands on Meta Ads in India? (8 Months of Real Data)

Industry averages say 3–4x. A Kerala jewellery brand hit 12.51x on its top campaign and 8.32x in its best month on ₹52L of Meta spend. Here is the monthly data, how to calculate your break-even ROAS, and the campaign structure behind it.

What is a good ROAS for jewellery brands on Meta Ads in India article cover, featuring a 12.51x top campaign ROAS

"What ROAS should I expect?" is the first question every jewellery founder asks about Meta Ads, and the usual answer, "it depends", is not much help.

So here is a concrete answer from real data: eight months of Meta Ads for a D2C jewellery brand in Kerala selling gold and fashion jewellery across India on Shopify. Every number below is reconciled between Meta Ads Manager and Shopify's own sales reports.

The short answer

For Indian jewellery brands on Meta:

  • Below 2x usually loses money once margins are counted
  • 3–4x is around the published industry average
  • 5x and above is strong
  • 7x and above is top-tier, and possible with the right structure

The brand in this article averaged 6.96x blended ROAS from January to August 2026, and every single month closed above 5x.

The real numbers, month by month

Total ad spend was ₹52.43L, which drove ₹364.68L in Shopify store revenue.

Bar chart of a Kerala D2C jewellery brand's monthly Meta Ads ROAS in 2026: January 7.62x, February 5.33x, March 6.28x, April 6.13x, May 8.32x (best month), June 7.56x, July 6.98x, August 8.03x
Best month: May 2026, ₹5.28L of spend returned ₹43.95L in Shopify revenue.
  • January: 7.62x
  • February: 5.33x
  • March: 6.28x
  • April: 6.13x
  • May: 8.32x (₹5.28L spend → ₹43.95L revenue)
  • June: 7.56x
  • July: 6.98x
  • August: 8.03x

Two things stand out. First, the floor: the worst month was still 5.33x. Second, the trend: June to August averaged 7.52x, compared with 6.41x for January to March, on similar spend. The account got more efficient over time, not less.

Forget benchmarks: calculate your break-even ROAS

Benchmarks only tell you what other brands get. The number that matters is the ROAS where you stop losing money:

Break-even ROAS = 1 ÷ your gross margin

Some examples:

  • 60% gross margin → break-even ROAS of 1.67x
  • 40% gross margin → break-even ROAS of 2.5x
  • 25% gross margin (common for gold, where metal cost dominates) → break-even ROAS of 4x

That last line is why jewellery is tricky. A gold-heavy catalogue with thin margins needs a much higher ROAS than a fashion jewellery brand with 60% margins. A 3x ROAS that looks fine on a dashboard can lose money on every gold order.

Calculate your break-even first. Then judge every campaign against it, not against an industry average.

Why jewellery is harder than most categories

Jewellery is a considered, high-ticket purchase. Customers browse, compare, leave and come back, often several times before buying. That creates two problems on Meta:

  1. 01Cold audiences rarely buy on first view, so prospecting campaigns look weak in isolation.
  2. 02Warm visitors are easily lost if nothing brings them back.

The answer is not to stop prospecting. It is to build a structure where prospecting feeds retargeting.

The campaign structure behind 6.96x

1. Dynamic catalogue retargeting (the closer)

Automatically shows people the exact products they viewed or added to cart. This was the highest-performing campaign every single month, averaging 12.51x ROAS and peaking at 18.13x in April. Here's how to set up catalogue ads on Shopify.

2. Long-window engagement retargeting

Jewellery buyers take time, so retargeting windows ran to 30, 60 and 180 days, re-engaging past visitors and past purchasers across the full consideration cycle. More on this in retargeting windows for high-ticket products.

3. Reels and video prospecting by state

Separate creative for Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Regional relevance in styling and occasions beats one generic national ad. See Malayalam, Tamil or English Meta ads.

4. Location and all-India prospecting

Broader campaigns whose real job is to keep refilling the retargeting pools with new, qualified visitors.

Prospecting spend is never wasted when every new visitor flows into retargeting that converts them later.

The signal that the account is maturing

Early in the year, the top campaign was running at up to 3x the account average: retargeting carried everything. By August, the gap had nearly closed: the top campaign delivered 8.38x against an 8.03x account average.

That is what a healthy account looks like. The whole system starts performing close to its best campaign, instead of one campaign propping up the rest.

How to improve your ROAS this month

  1. 01Work out your break-even ROAS from your real gross margin.
  2. 02Turn on dynamic catalogue retargeting if it is not running. For most jewellery stores it is the single highest-ROAS campaign.
  3. 03Extend retargeting windows to 60–180 days to match how long jewellery buyers take.
  4. 04Localise creative by state or region instead of running one national ad.
  5. 05Judge prospecting by what it feeds, not by its own last-click ROAS.
  6. 06Report ROAS from Shopify revenue, not just Meta's attribution.
